GE launch party at Zouk

Hey~ Just went to the GE launch party at Zouk on Sat. Got my jeans wet while waiting in the queue to get into Zouk. What a bad day to rain and there are simply not enough shelter to hide under. Anyways, manage to get into the place after around half an hour of queueing. During which I seriously resisted the urge to dig out my eyes as I saw a girl in her 20s dressup as strawberry shortcake! Its simply argh~!!!!

Things got better while I was inside though. Saw a few cosplayers in their various anime costumes. A few were actually quite good! Can really see the effort put into designing their costumes as well as the overall look. Some were quite pretty as well. Oh....there were the FHM gamer girls as well...nice....

Next came the european swordfighting demonstration. Pretty intrigued by it I would say. However, its kinda expensive as you need to invest around 150bucks for a wooden sword first, as well as some more money into buying the gloves and knee pads. Course fee is cheap though, 80 bucks every month for 4 sessions. Fighting veryyyyy hard to resist the urge to sign up....

Ok think thats enough pointless babbling for today..Ja, ne..

Friday!!! Chill Out Day!!!!!

Or so I'd thought...
Heaven drowned my perkiness and joyousnous with a huge downpour in the early morning.....thus wading thru puddles and soft gooey mud and waiting in the cold wet road for a non-existant taxi. Funny how all singaporeans become rich enough to take taxis once it starts raining? Moreover, all the call bookings for cabs reach an all time high as well. Whatever happened to the complains of the high booking fee?! yay to the cab drivers

30 mins later..

Finaly reach my customer's site. Now I stand freezing into an ice cube in front of the server rack in a server room of 19 Degrees... Think I see icicles forming on my rain-soaked jeans. Drank anti-freeze for lunch 2 hours later and thawed myself out in the sun for a whole hour before returning to my office.

In the office...

Plopped into my seat and just about to check my mail when the store guy came wheeling in 8 servers to be integrated by the end of the day.. *weep* when will my misery end...
TGIF...what a word.. But think from now on, I would prefer TGINF (Thank God Its NOT Friday!!)

Stay tuned ~

Oppression hits a New High

Ah, the marvellous oppressive Dad did it again. New rule of the house is that no playstation is to be connected to the new LCD tv. Good going Dad! The $2k tv is now officially a display item in the house. What good is it to buy a good HD LCD tv and only using it to sing karaoke when the beast's friends visits?! Thank god,(I am an Atheist by the way. LOL) I will be moving out to my new home in 2 months time. I will finally be free of this oppression..... *weep*.
Well, one good thing came out of this whole episode though. It spurred me on to strive in my career so as to get my earnings high enough to save my beloved suffering mother. One day, I am gonna earn enough to support her as well and then, I can finally ask her to file for divorce. The real family, consisting of me,mum and my wife, can then be truly happy and free. And that beast can then wallow in his own home with all his precious items of display for the rest of his miserable life!

The Amazing Oppressive Dad

May 14,

what a wonderful sunday, total relaxation and a time to blow off steam. Oh boy, do my dad take the latter to an amazing new high. Ah my Dad, the iron fisted family man, supposedly the head of the family. He is the guy that makes everyone else's life a complete misery when he just simply doesn't like what someone is doing, an oh, he doesn't tell you anything, probably wanna cultivate his telepathic skills.

Example 1:
My mum's mother, being my grandma, was just admitted into hospital for an operation on her knee. My mum, naturally went to visit my grandma everyday in hospital. Here comes the dad, sulking with a black face for the past 3 days, turns off the air-con so that everyone can roast themselves as they sleep thru the night and starts sweeping the floor, purposefully creating sounds of displeasure as he bangs the broomstick against various furniture and walls. The aura of oppression can be felt as soon as someone steps thru the front door. For God's sake, what the heck is wrong with my mum visiting my grandma!!

Example 2:
Just last night, I went downstairs with my gf to have dinner. In the midst of hunger, I forgot to switch off a fan in the hall. After refuelling my body, I went back home. As I stepped thru the front door, the aura of oppression is felt again. 5 minutes later, the sweeping with displeasure started again. If this is an MMORPG, he would have reached the ultimate level of 99. Later in the night, my mum relayed a message from the oppressor, stating that I had forgotten to switch off the fan. At around 10+pm, the oppressor laid on the couch, and fell asleep around 30mins later with the TV and entire home theater system switched on, serenading his sleep. What a wonderful night's sleep he must have had. And as usual, the rest of the family roasted themselves thru the night as they slept.

More examples to come, so stayed tuned for the Adventures of the Oppressive Dad~!

Thoughts, Feelings and Whatnot:
Has the definition of the family man, the head of the family changed somewhat over the years? Cos it seems like the "In" thing now is to make the family suffer while you blow off steam. Pretty convenient ain't it. Kinda feel that the dad is pretty much of a coward. Doesn't dare to speak up and prefers to let his aura do the job. Its so wierd, the guy that is supposed to be the protector of the family has turned on the very people he is supposed to protect. Hey a thought just came into my mind! Maybe we could start a monthly sacrifice and he would be appeased and the oppresion may be lifted. Now where can I find a place where human sacrifice is legal.....hmm......

Sentimental Value:
As I was half roasting and sleeping, I remembered the times when I looked forward to sunday approaching. My dad would take the whole family out to east coast for a morning by the beach. I would be sitting behind in the tandem bike while he peddled at the front. The family bond was so strong then, so satifying, so fulfilling..... I so miss the days of family outings back then....
